This tutorial was written April 24, 2008, by InkkFreakk.

My tutorials are registered at TWI

The author assumes you have some basic working knowledge of Paint shop Pro and Animation Shop.

Any similarity to other tutorials is unintentional.

Written in Paint shop Pro X1 but will work for other versions as well with minor adjustments.

If at any time you feel you know your psp well enough to alter steps to achieve the same thing feel free to do so.

After all, tutorials are only guidelines. You should always try to deviate from the tutorial and make your creation different while still learning the methods and techniques.

Please read through the tutorial before you begin.

My tutorials can be long so take your time.

I want to teach you something other than copy and pasting, but in some instances you will do just that before the fun steps.

Tips are shown in green throughout the tutorial.

If you have any issues with my tutorials or suggestions feel free to contact me through my blog.

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 1

===================

Open a new image that is 450 x 450 transparent

Open your tube in psp

Crtl=D to duplicate image, close original file

Minimize this tube for now

Choose a paper from the scrapkit you will be using, if you chose one that doesn’t have papers you will need to find one that does or find a pattern that will compliment it. We will be making a frame with it

You will need to see what size the paper is. If it is very large you will need to resize it so it is 500 x 500

MENU~image/resize/

then reduce the numbers in the width and height boxes until the pixel dimensions above it says 500 x 500

or as close to it as it will go. You must have all layers checked

TOOLBAR~preset shape/rectangle

Line style-solid

Width 20.00

Antialias-checked

Create on vector-checked

Choose your paper in the material palette for foreground/stroke, make the background/fill box null

Draw a square about 2/3 the size of your image area

I drew mine in the bottom half of my image area

Convert to raster layer

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 2

=============================

Now we will make some scallops around the square to make it fancy..lol

MATERIALS PALETTE~ you will need to switch your pattern to the background/fill box and make the foreground one null

TOOLBAR~text tool

Font-I used Aharoni size 36

Click anywhere and then type a lot of either zeros or capitol O’s

Now go and choose a font you like, I chose one that is sort of fat and thick

Type as many as will fit across the top of the frame with none past the edges of it

LAYER PALETTE~right click your text layer/convert to raster layer

LAYER PALETTE~right click your text layer/duplicate

Now position it on the underside of the box

I did mine so about half of the letters were hidden under the box

Do the same thing with the top letters

You will want to make sure they are BELOW the box layer

All u have to do is click the layers in the layer palette and drag them down under the box layer

Now let’s do the side bars

Back to your text tool

Type about 10 letters

MENU~image/free rotate/

Left

90

All layers-unchecked

Position it as you did the others

Now you will need to bring up the text box again to get the right number of letters to fit on that side

Once you have it the way you want, convert to raster layer

Duplicate and move it to the other side and position it

Now make sure all of the scallop layers are BELOW the rectangle.

Hide raster 1 and the rectangle layer

Right click any of the scallop layers, merge, merge visible

Unhide the other layers

Activate the scallop layer

Activate top layer ( should be the rectangle layer)

LAYER PALETTE~right click top layer/merge/merge down

Now the scallop and rectangle layers should be merged and you will also have raster 1 still

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 3

Floodfill raster 1 with white

Add your tube and position where you want.

DO NOT MOVE IT ONCE YOU HAVE IT WHERE YOU WANT

LAYER PALETTE~right click frame layer/duplicate

Move duplicate layer above your tube

You will need to remove parts of the frame now.

***TIP***

You will need to decide whether you need the rectangle selection or the freehand tool

On mine I used the rectangle one because I did not need to freehand around anything

All I did was delete the upper left section of the frame so it didn’t cover her

TOOLBAR~selection tool/

Make sure you are on the top frame layer

Draw around the area you want to delete

Then hit the delete key on your keyboard

Once you have the parts of the frame deleted then apply a drop shadow to the bottom frame layer

MENU~effects/3d effects/drop shadow

Vertical-0

Horizontal-0

Opacity-100

Blur-5.00

Color-black

You will not need to apply it to the top frame layer

Now apply a drop shadow to your tube.

I did the same settings as for the frame but I changed blur to 12

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 4

Let’s add a masked layer

LAYER PALETTE~right click raster 1/new raster layer

Flood fill this new raster layer with a paper of choice.

Open the mask provided in psp and minimize

MENU~layers/new mask layer/from image

Choose the mask provided or one you have chosen

Source luminance-checked

Click ok

LAYER PALETTE~right click group layer/merge/merge group

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

STEP 5

Now let’s add your elements and scrap items where you want.

Remember to keep in mind where you will put the name on the tag

You can place items above and below your frame layers

DO NOT MERGE ANYTHING YET

Once you have all your elements the way you want you will need to merge them

Hide the frame, tube, group, and white layers

Now see what layers are ABOVE and BELOW these layers

Merge them so they stay where they are

So all the layers you put above merge them

All the ones below, merge them

Now once you have all these merge correctly you will want to

rename and duplicate each layer until you have three of each

Heres how

Rename each layer so you know what it is.

I have named mine

FLOWERS

TUBE

SCROLLS

MASKED

WHITE

Right click each layer and duplicate 2 times

Now hide the 2 duplicates

Do this with all other layers until you have 3 of each with the duplicates hidden

You may have a different amount of layers which is ok

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 6

Now we will add an effect to the MASKED layer

Activate the bottom MASKED layer

This way you can see better where you want to select

TOOLBAR~magic wand/

Now click on areas of her hair you want to add noise to

On my tube I have selected all areas of her hair that is blue tinted

Take your time with it, if you goof you have to start all over

Do not deselect

When you have selected all of the areas you want to add noise to you will go to step 8

***TIP***

Step 9

Now we will add our copyright and watermark layers

Make sure you are on the top layer

MENU~text tool

Font-pixelette

Antialias-off

Stroke-0

Create as vector

Color- either black or one that matches your tag

Once you have placed your copyright and watermarks

Merge those layers by merging down

Rename them TEXT

Then duplicate until you have 3

Hide the top 2

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 10

Let’s merge all the layers now

You should have 1 of each layer showing

All others should be hidden

On your bottom layer right click and merge visible

Hide this layer

Unhide the second layer in each layer

Right click and merge visible

Hide this layer

Unhide the third layer in each layer

Right click and merge visible

You should have 3 layers now

Unhide all 3

Save

DO NOT CLOSE

Open in animation shop

MENU~view/animation

Your hair should be glittered and the masked layer should be animated

If it is then go ahead and close it out of animation shop without saving

Go back to PSP

***TIP***

Remember to save your image after each step

Step 11

Now let’s add your name

MENU~text tool

Choose the colors and font you want

Make it the way you want it then convert to raster layer

Duplicate it 2 more times

Hide the top 2

Hide the top 2 merged layers of your tag

Now you will merge them as you did with the other layers in step 10

Once you have done this you will be back down to 3 layers

Save your tag

Open in animation shop

Save as a gif and your done.
